Halo Magic

Sired by the infamous Mach Three, Mach Magic, was the first of Illusionist’s progreny to make it to the big oval. Illusionist’s second foal, Mach Magic’s racing career spanned five years, from 2015 to 2019, when she retired. Mach Magic earned $154,503 in 125 racing starts.

In the summer of 2019, she went home to Hillsborough Stable, where she began her second career as a broodmare. Betterthancheddar was chosen as sire for her first match. Eleven months later on a spring day in 2020, a bright-eyed foal entered the world.

Like her mother, Illusionist, and her half-sister, Lido Magic, Magic Magic delivered a filly in her first pregnancy. Landing smack in the midst of a pandemic, her birth name, Halo Magic, reflected the times and the crown or halo-like shape of the Covid-19 virus.

As a two-year-old, Halo Magic went off to the trainer. However, her racing career was put on a permanent hold after some ankle x-rays revealed old, yet healed fractures. As a three-year-old, Halo Magic moved on to her new life. She was sold and started her next career as a horse and perhaps a broodmare someday because of her exceptional breeding.
